What is the best ammo in Tarkov?
It depends on the caliber your gun fires. The chart ranks every round by penetration tier: S tier rounds (55+ penetration) reliably defeat class 5 and 6 armor, while F tier is only good against unarmored targets. Find your caliber, then read the C1-C6 columns to see what each round actually beats.
What do the C1-C6 columns mean?
They are the six armor classes in Escape from Tarkov. The color in each cell shows how reliably that round penetrates that armor class: green means it goes through consistently, yellow is a coin flip, and red means the armor wins.
How much penetration do I need to beat class 4 or class 5 armor?
A good rule of thumb is penetration of at least 10 above the armor class times 10. So a round needs roughly 50+ penetration to consistently beat class 4 armor and 60+ to beat class 5.
Should I pick high damage or high penetration?
Penetration matters against armored PMCs, damage matters against unarmored targets. High-damage low-pen rounds work well against scavs and for leg shots, while armored fights are decided almost entirely by penetration.
