Escape from Tarkov Hideout Upgrade Priority Guide 2026 - What to Build First
Escape from Tarkov Hideout Upgrade Priority Guide 2026
The hideout is one of the most important progression systems in Escape from Tarkov. A well-upgraded hideout generates passive income, crafts valuable items, and provides significant bonuses to your PMC. This guide will help you prioritize your upgrades for maximum efficiency.
Why Your Hideout Matters
Your hideout isn't just a place to store gear between raids. It's a money-making machine that works while you're offline. A fully upgraded hideout can generate hundreds of thousands of rubles per day through crafting alone. Plus, certain upgrades provide permanent bonuses like faster regeneration and reduced scav cooldowns.
Tier 1 Priority: Essential Upgrades
Generator (Level 1)
The generator powers everything else. Without it, most of your hideout stations won't function. Prioritize this first as it unlocks nearly every other upgrade path. The fuel cost is minimal compared to the benefits you'll receive.
Medstation (Level 1)
The medstation lets you craft essential healing items like Salewas, which are required for the Therapist's first quest. Being able to craft your own medical supplies saves significant money early wipe.
Workbench (Level 1)
The workbench unlocks weapon modding and ammo crafting. Even at level 1, you can craft basic ammunition that would otherwise be expensive or hard to find. This station pays for itself quickly.
Lavatory (Level 1-2)
Don't overlook the toilet. The lavatory lets you craft valuable items from common junk. Magazine cases, scav junkboxes, and various barter items can all be produced here. The scav junkbox craft alone makes this station worth rushing.
Tier 2 Priority: Money Makers
Bitcoin Farm (Level 1)
Once you have the prerequisites (Intelligence Center level 2), the bitcoin farm should be your primary goal. Even with just a few graphics cards, it generates steady passive income. Each bitcoin is worth significant rubles, and production continues while you're offline.
Intelligence Center (Level 1-2)
Required for the bitcoin farm and provides its own benefits. Unlocks the ability to purchase items from vendors using intelligence folders and reduces scav case cooldowns. Level 2 is necessary before you can start farming bitcoins.
Nutrition Unit (Level 1-2)
The nutrition unit crafts food, drinks, and most importantly - sugar and moonshine. Moonshine is used in the scav case and can be sold for profit. Being able to craft your own eliminates a major expense.
Scav Case
While expensive to build, the scav case provides excellent returns. Running moonshine cases regularly yields valuable items including keycards, rare barter goods, and high-tier loot. Over time, this station generates significant profit.
Tier 3 Priority: Quality of Life
Rest Space (Level 1-2)
Faster energy and hydration regeneration means less money spent on food between raids. Higher levels also increase your off-raid health regeneration, reducing healing costs.
Heating (Level 1-2)
Heating improves energy regeneration and is required for many other upgrades. While not exciting, it's a necessary stepping stone to better stations.
Stash Upgrades
If you don't have EOD edition, stash upgrades are extremely valuable but very expensive. Each level gives you more storage space, reducing the need to sell items you want to keep. Consider these after your money-making stations are established.
Air Filtering Unit
The air filtering unit provides bonus experience while operating. It's expensive to run due to filter costs, but if you're pushing for higher levels, the XP boost is substantial during extended play sessions.

Tips for Faster Progression
Start collecting hideout items early. Many upgrades require found-in-raid items like motors, hoses, and corrugated tubes. Check the flea market for deals, but remember some items must be found in raid.
Use the TarkovForge "Should I Keep This?" tool to identify which items you need for upcoming upgrades. This prevents accidentally selling crucial components.
Don't rush expensive upgrades before you can afford them. A half-finished hideout doesn't help you. Focus on completing each station before moving to the next.
Good luck upgrading your hideout, and we'll see you in Tarkov!
